Port Isaac Cornwall

By Jane Richardson Pete Lennon

Port Isaac will be one of the places you want to visit on your trip to the UK. The beauty of the area is reason enough but if you want to experience the character of an unspoiled 18th and 19th century fishing village, Port Isaac is beckoning you.

The ambiance of the area will transport you back to the time when the Port Isaac harbour was a busy port and imported goods arrived via ship. From pottery to stone this area was very active in the import and export business. Close your eyes and you will hear the sounds of the workers as they loaded and unloaded the ships.

From the Middle Ages to about the middle of the 19th century the Port Isaac harbour flourished. The arrival of trains and delivery vehicles began to take the place of this age old tradition. The coastal trade was the part of what shaped this area into the quaint village of today.

Take a look around at the cottages and tiny streets of an era gone by. The narrow alleys are part of the scene and this secluded valley is the perfect place to get away from it all. Refresh yourself with the serenity of Port Isaac. Whether you are seeking a place to relax and unwind or are interested in the history of Port Isaac, you will find both here. Walks along the coast of this amazing area will be just what you need to revitalize yourself with the sea air.

This area is perfect for a honeymoon, second honeymoon or a trip to enjoy the beauty this area can offer. You will find Port Isaac the perfect spot.

The cottages that are home to the people of this area are picturesque white washed cottages, just as they were many years ago. The old cottages have withstood the test of time as they climb the sharply sloping hillsides.

With the rich history of fishing in this area, there are fishermen who continue to carry on the tradition of their ancestors. Every day they are there fishing and trapping the lobster and crab that are indigenous to this area.

The area is so relaxing you may decide to extend your vacation. Sitting in the pubs that are steeped in the atmosphere of the area, it is easy to leave behind the fast-paced world from which you came.

A Cornish Holiday Cottage owned by Adam Godfrey is available to rent all year round. This holiday home is situated in Trelights just less than a mile outside Port Isaac. It has three double bedrooms and all the amenities you would expect. There is a secluded garden and parking for three cars.
