cayo Santa Maria.

By Jose Mauricio

Melia Las Dunas Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria becomes the favourite family beach hotel in the central part of Cuba especially among tourist coming from Canada and UK.

The massive beach resort houses more than 900 rooms in all inclusive basis, a buffet and 4 a la carte restaurants as well as many snack bars spread through out the hotel and in the beach area.

The journey to this hotel can be long if you are coming from Havana by road. It takes approximately 5 hours. There are 2 flights from Havana every day and it only takes 50 minutes from Havana. There is an international airport in Santa Clara and some tour operators sell flights direct to Cayo Santa Maria including an hour transfer from Santa Clara airport.

There are only three hotels in this island and another under construction. Cayo Santa Maria is still one of the least spoilt beach areas in Cuba. So your tranquillity is guaranty.

For the Cuban Cuisine standards this hotel is definitely above the average. Managed by Sol Melia, the Spanish hotel chain the variety is always guarantee. There is plenty to choose from including sea food, Chinese dishes, Creole Cuban recipes and even a Hamburger Cafeteria.

Always bear in mind that this is a family oriented hotel and if you don't want to be around kids then perhaps you should consider another option such as the adults-only Melia Cayo Santa Maria next to Melia Las Dunas. - 15266
