SANTA PICTURE:

If you are looking for Christmas crafts and recipes geared for preschoolers, this picture-making activity is a good place to start. So, let's begin creating Santa's pictures from scratch. There are many different kinds of coloring books with Santa themes sold during Christmas. Get Santa's picture from one of those books. Cut it out, and place Santa's picture in the center of a sheet of thick, white construction paper. A glue stick will do fine to fasten it to the paper.

Use colored pencils to decorate the picture. Once coloring is done, use wisps of cotton to serve as Santa's beard and a small ball of cotton at the end of his red hat. To make it extra special, use small, black buttons as Santa's eyes and a red button for his nose. Fill the rest of the area of the white construction paper by drawing presents or candy canes.

When the picture is done, have your kids carefully write their names right under Santa's picture. Take a large piece of black cardboard and glue your child's picture to it. Insert the finished art work in a frame to shield it from damage. Place the frame in an open area of your house where it is easy to look at and admire.

SANTA CHRISTMAS CARDS:

Santa Christmas cards are perfect for your kids this time of year. Cut a piece of white card stock to 5" x 7". You can either fold it vertically or horizontally. Tell your kids to create their own version of Santa on the front page. If they need help, you might have some picturs of Santa for them to copy. Let them use crayons or colored markers to help stimulate their imagination.

After making the pictures, it's time for your kids to write Christmas messages on the inside page. Christmas cards made this way are delightful to show off at home or send to loved ones. You can also do a Christmas craft-a-day activity and add this to your Christmas calendar. Whether you teach a class or do this at home, it's an enjoyable thing to do with your kids or students.

MAKE A SANTA PLATE ORNAMENT FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE:

To make a Santa Plate Ornament, you'll need to get several supplies: crayons and felt pens, wisps of cotton, a round paper plate, and shiny thread cut to tiny bits. On the paper plate, draw Santa without his hat. Use crayons or markers. To add some depth to Santa, glue cotton balls on his beard and mustache. To make his beard, glue the cotton together into a V-shape. Then attach the top of the V-shape to the plate so it hangs off the plate's edge. Another place to use cotton is on Santa's white hair.

To finish Santa, color his eyes blue and draw black glasses. You need a red nose so color a cotton ball red with a felt tip marker or food coloring. To decorate the rim, you can use red or green crayons. You might also want to add some sparkly glitter on the edge. Finally, add a hook at the top of the picture so you can hang it on the tree.

As you can see, there are so many different ways to involve your kids in creating, making, and decorating Santa Christmas ornaments, pictures, and cards. - 15266
