Making The Most Of Your Holiday - Things To Do In Majorca

By Robert M Freeman

Majorca, called Mallorca in Spanish is the main Balearic Island and a perfect spot for beach enthusiasts with its baking beaches and more than five hundred kilometers of coastline.

The island has gorgeous scenery, mountains, and superb Mediterranean food. It gets approximately ten million tourists annually, and as a result has magnificently developed infrastructure to help the tourists so that the tourism economy keeps increasing. The island is absolutely not all about the beaches and you can discover its abundant countryside as well. The further you are from the coast, the cheaper it is, so that is certainly a first-rate reason to go towards the centre of the island.

The Palma de Mallorca is the island's capital and is without doubt worth a visit. In its old city you will be able to see numerous architectural wonders, the incredible culture, and Mediterranean food. There is a celebrated cathedral which is worth going to along with the city center which is nice to walk around. Serra de Tramuntana are the grand mountains that are found along the north-west coast and can be visited for short hikes and striking panoramas.

Fredric Chopin spent a little time in the village of Valldemossa. If you are in the mountains you should go to Soller and Port de Soller which is a gorgeous town as well. You can also hire bicycles and cycle around the island. You may even see a few professional teams training here.

Playa de Palma is the busiest tourist spot on the island, and you can also visit the Dragon Caves which are a very popular tourist spot. When in Palma, look for quiet beaches. The five kilometer stretch is very crowded and you may not enjoy it as much. The best one is on the blue bus line at Western terminus, and is called Playa. It has a great cove and even a restaurant on the beach.

Nevertheless, if you are in Mallorca, the key place to go is the south and east coasts but anticipate places to be extremely packed throughout the tourist season. You can discover private beaches, but be conscious that you will have to walk extra and will not have easy access to restaurants and cafes there. The best-looking beach is Es Trenc close to the Colonia de Sant Jordi, but you can absolutely travel around the island to find even superior beaches.

S'Abulfera has a salt marsh. This is near the town of Alcudia. Here, you can see a great number of bird species and enjoy nature at its very best. You can find heron, ducks, and warblers here. The cliffs of Fortmentor are a great place to go bird watching, and you might even be able to see an Elenora's Falcon, which is a very rare bird to spot.

If you are visiting for the summers, walk to the Bendinat Golf Course on Saturday evening to have fun at an on the house classical concert. If you enjoy rock climbing, you should tour Deep Water Psicobloc which is one of the greatest spots for rock climbing over deep water. - 15266
