To keep your garment steamer happy, it is recommended that you follow the procedures that are about to be mentioned to maintain your garment steamers maximum performance.
This maintenance should be done about every 3-6 months depending on the water supply. Depending on the severity of the clogging, you may have to completely disassemble the unit to prolong the life span of it.
An authorized repair center or a steamer service technician best performs this disassembling process.
1. Remove the hose from the garment steamer. Pour out any water that might be left in your unit.
2.Use a water hose if the attachment is blocked by sediment build up. This will remove any build up that occurred inside the hose.
3. The internal parts of the steamer should be cleaned with an acid based solution designed for these type of units. This cleaner will remove the hard water deposits as well as the sediment build-up.
4.Fill the garment steamer with a gallon of water and at least 10 ounces of your acid based steamer cleaner. be sure to preheat the steamer so the solution is able to warm
5. Once the preheat cycle is complete, turn the unit off . Allow the water and cleaning solution to remain in the steamer for about two to three hours. Make sure that you do not steam while the solution is inside as this could damage the unit.
6. Remove the cleaning solution from the garment steamer. Simply tip and pour the solution out where the hose was originally attached.
7. rinse thoroughly with fresh water a few times.
8. If you noticed discolored water after this procedure, you may have to repeat it.
