Splendid Photo Homemade Christmas Ornaments

By Kris King

Christmas ornaments you've made yourself are some of the best loved ornaments to trim the Christmas tree. Every year that we put our ornaments with my kid's photos on the tree, I treasure those memories very much. It makes me remember the times when my kids were younger.

Let me share a few simple Christmas photo ornaments you can make. Even your preschool child could make the first one, so it is a great holiday craft idea for preschoolers.

Christmas Tree

With a 3 inch paper tree outline, cut a 1/8 inch green tree from spongeboard. Your child can now participate in decorating here. Use a hole punch to get many, brightly colored dots from spongeboard. These dots can then be glued by your youngster to the tree as ornaments.

Next, cut a single 1/2 inch hole towards the bottom of the green tree. Glue your photo to the back so the picture shows through. Thread a curled ribbon loop at the treetop.

These holiday Christmas ornaments using photos are so cheap and simple, you can make one for each family member. To personalize, let each child sign his name and year on the back with a black sharpie.

Felt Bells

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments using photos is the one I received from my son's first year in Mother's Day Out. His teacher cut blue felt in the shape of a three inch tall bell. A smaller white bell was cut with a hole in the middle for the photo.

Glue the photo to the white felt so the picture shows through the hole. Place the white bell on top of the blue one so you see a blue border around the white bell.

Decorate the edges of the white felt with glitter glue pen. Make an opening in the bell top and thread blue ribbon to make a loop.

You're almost finished. Cut blue poster the same size and shape as the blue bell. Glue it to the back to stiffen the holiday Christmas ornament. Attach a small jingle bell to the bottom of the ornament. My son's teacher wrote his name and the year on the back.

Wow, now you have an easy and cool-looking holiday Christmas ornament using photos to beautify your tree this season. And as an added plus, you have a handmade and homemade ornament to remember your child. - 15266
